Synonyms

Response

Example

In a study of mental imagery, the silent visualization of an image by the subject is a covert response.

Logical Restrictions

A covert response cannot be characterized by a Response Modality since it is covert.

Comments

Covert responses may be indirectly measurable, as in the galvanic skin response after being startled by a loud noise, or EEG modification during a neural feedback study.

If it is not a movement of the body, it's covert.

Holding one's breath, however, is overt.

BrainMap (2009) does not represent covert responses, but represents the lack of an overt response via Response Modality = None and Response Type = None.
